What are the project's aims?

In all three pilot countries, the project aims to:

• Reassert national government with its local partners as the pivotal point for country sector monitoring;
• Align efforts and avoid duplication in sector monitoring;
• Encourage a more diverse stakeholder involvement in sector dialogue;
• Reinforce the potential of existing data streams for enhancing pro-poor resource allocation at all levels;
• Re-establish ownership through local stakeholder participation;
• Facilitate better use of sector monitoring data to fulfil the demands of a complex stakeholder group (sector, sub-sector and civil society); and
• Strengthen national capacity, innovation and expertise through sharing the vast knowledge obtained through rounds of global reporting on sector progress.
